I thought of another way of looking at this song ... The soul is the orange ... peeling the layers to get to the true person ... the truth is the juice.
Thanks, Paisley! I wish I could take some credit for the music... (beyond the lyrics). The old AI generator worked some magic on this one. 🔥
I originally wrote this a long time ago...with it more intended as kind of a dirty blues song, with a vocal sound like Joss Stone, Beth Hart, or a Susan Tedeschi.
When it comes to R&B, I only know a few... Sade, Anita Baker, and people like Keith Sweat and Brian McKnight... (I'm showing my age... Lol). 😅
Pretty cool poem and lyrics John… It's amazing how different reading and listening change the entire mood of words. The wonder of poetry and lyrics.
Thanks and absolutely agree about reading and listening, Darlene! 🌞
I think that highlights 3 things :
The person reading it and their experiences.
The way the words are assembled.
And the music it's put too.
If put different music behind this…. It'll feel vastly different and give it different meaning.
I agree, changing the music style will change the feel and meaning of the words.
I’ve never attempted song lyrics. Might have to mess with that writing style one day to challenge myself.
Yes! That would be awesome! 😊
Darlene, I just had to listen and was thinking the same!
Great. I’ll never look at an orange the same but definitely have a new appreciation for the orgasmic orange. 🍊

😂🤣
Sorry? You're welcome? I hope you weren't a big fan of oranges ... 😬
😄 🤣
I can’t imagine that anyone who reads the lyrics will ever see a glass of orange juice the same way either … LOL
my immediate thoughts for vocals were makenzie thomas or madison ryann ward.
this is smooth!!!

Well rendered, John.
Thanks, Frank. Not really what I envisioned when I wrote it…. But oh well. 😅
🔥
Just posting this was a little out of my comfort zone … LOL
That's 😎
